The Treasurer’s Association of Virginia certification program is a collaboration between the Weldon Cooper Center of Public Service and the local official organizations.
Certification Program Details
The Treasurers and Deputy Treasurers certification programs both have two components, taking and passing required courses and earning “points” through participation in association events. Specific program details, including purpose, content, eligibility, requirements, procedures, and regulations, are included in the handbooks below, which are both written and maintained by the Association, not the Weldon Cooper Center. Alternatively, you can visit the Treasurers’ Association website for program details and requirements.

ADMINISTRATION AND TRANSCRIPTS
The Weldon Cooper Center administers the certification program on behalf of the Treasurers’ Association of Virginia and maintains all records of the program, including accurate, up-to-date transcripts.
Information gets posted to individual transcripts in the following manner:
- Course grades are usually posted within ten days of the exam.
- Attendance at regularly scheduled events—district meeting, annual meeting, etc—is normally posted within two weeks of the event.
- For events outside the scope of the Cooper Center, records are updated once the Cooper Center receives the necessary information.
For a specific inquiry, please reach out to Beth Bennett at firstname.lastname@example.org or (434) 982-2144.
Courses are now offered in person and online. If you are taking a course for course credit only (opting out of the exam), you will receive two fewer points. You can register for a course by clicking on the “Customer Login” button the main menu at the top of the page.
NOTE: The Ethics course is not required for certification, only for office accreditation
